How to fix analog stick drift on PS4 controller by replacing the potentiometer assembly

Two weeks after I purchased my brand new PS4 the characters in games started to move by themselves and it became very hard to navigate in menus as the analog sticks had some severe drift. Then I decided to open up the controllers, clean the potentiometers and put them back together.
That actually helped for a little while. Maybe another month passed and then drifting started again.
It seems that there are to different types of potentiometer assemblies. In the DualShock controllers there are as far as I know always those assemblies with orange potentiometers. On photos it always says ALPS on the former green/blue version. Since ALPS is a manufacturer I never made any bad experiences with I wanted to have those potentiometers manufactured by ALPS. The old potentiometers themselves seem not to be compatible with mechanical assembly of the never orange version, that's why I had to change the entire potentiometer unit rather than replacing the potentiometers only.
So far the new ones seem to work like a charm. It also seems to me that gameplay became easier. At least I managed to crash my car in WRC7 far less times than before :)
If you try replacing the potentiometer assemblies by yourself be careful as you might damage your controller permanently. I just should mention: If you try, you do this at your own risk!
