Mosab Hassan Yousef: Son of Hamas

Stand for free speech #AC4FreeSpeech

Mosab shares his unique perspective and thought provoking views on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict at Amherst College.

Mosab Hassan Yousef is the son of the founder/leader of Hamas, the Islamic terrorist organization in Palestine. While in line to succeed his father as the organization’s leader, he instead chose to work as an undercover spy for the Shin Bet, Israel's intelligence service.

During his 10 years as an informant, he provided intelligence that led to the prevention of dozens of suicide bombings and assassination attempts. He also provided information that led to the detention of several key Palestinian leaders including Ibrahim Hamid, a Hamas commander in the West Bank, and the foiling of a 2001 plot to assassinate Shimon Peres, then foreign minister and later President of Israel.

Event was co-sponsored by the AAS,the Smith College Republican Club, the Young America's Foundation, and the Political Science Department.
