Victoria Opens State Nomination Program for 2023-24: 190 and 491 Visas

Victoria has officially opened its State Nomination Program for the year 2023-24. This program provides aspiring skilled migrants, both within Australia and overseas, with an opportunity to pursue permanent residency in Victoria.

Victoria has set aside 2,700 allocations for the Subclass 190 visa and 600 for the Subclass 491 visa. This allocation distribution primarily emphasizes the Subclass 190 visa, making it an attractive option for those looking to secure permanent residency in this state.

To be considered for a state nomination in Victoria, you must submit a Registration of Interest (ROI). A Registration of Interest is not an application for Victorian visa nomination. The program is very competitive and there is no set timeframe for when you may be selected. Your ROI will remain in our system for selection until it is withdrawn or selected.
The program will close in early 2024 at a date to be confirmed. You should consider putting in a ROI while they have nominations.

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)

The good news for those aiming for the Subclass 190 visa is that there are no changes to the eligibility criteria for Victoria in this category. If you had submitted an ROI for the Subclass 190 visa in the 2022-23 program and weren't selected, there's no need to resubmit an ROI unless your information has changed. Additionally, it's crucial to review your partner points and annual salary responses in your existing ROI. If any of this information is incorrect, you should withdraw the existing ROI and submit a new one with the accurate details.

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) changes

For the Subclass 491 visa, there have been notable changes due to the limited allocation of only 600 nominations for 2023-24. To be eligible for Subclass 491 nomination during this program, onshore applicants must currently reside and work in regional Victoria at the time of nomination. Some outer suburbs of Melbourne are included in the regional zones by the Department of Home Affairs.

Consequently, if you had submitted a Subclass 491 ROI in the 2022-23 intake but weren't selected and still meet the eligibility criteria, you will need to submit a new ROI for consideration.
