Saltburn-by-the-Sea is a seaside town in Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England, around 26 miles south east of Hartlepool. It lies within the historic boundaries of the North Riding of Yorkshire. It has a population of around 6,000.

The delightful coastal town Saltburn-by-the-sea bestows plenty of Victorian charm and thrills. From the water balanced cliff lifts to the last remaining pier in Yorkshire, Saltburn promises its visitors an authentic seaside experience!

There's plenty to entertain too as the seaside town has an up and coming arts scene, lots of restaurants and plenty of daring water sports to try.

Back in the 18th century, the fishing village of Saltburn by the Sea (to give it its full title) was well-known for its smuggling activities.

Transformation came with the arrival of the railway, and the Victorian zeal for seaside towns was played out in full at Saltburn, which still features Italian Gardens, quirky cliff tramway and elegant pier. But there's also a vibrant, contemporary air to town, which is making a new name for itself as an arts, culture, food and surfing destination.
