Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky ( City of Fire and Ice )

Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the capital and largest city of of the whole Kamchatka Peninsula. It is one of the most remote cities in Russia but is very interesting with tourism attractions and unique livelihood.

The city was founded by Danish navigator Vitus Bering in the service of the Russian Navy. Settlement began after and it was granted town status on April 9, 1812.

During the 1854--1855 Crimean War, the city was put under siege by the Anglo-French forces but never fell. 600 allied troops landed south of the city, but were forced to retreat by only 230 Russian troops after heavy fighting. One week later, 900 allied troops landed east of the town, but were again repelled by Russians troops. 900 foreign troops died trying to siege the city of Petropavlovsk.

The City is the Center of fishing hub and industry in the whole of Russia and hotels are available for extreme nature tourism.

Russians, Ukrainians, Koryak, Evenk, Itelmen, Tatars , Armenians, Belarusians and Azeris.
