Jack Black yearns for the mines as Steve in a serviceable if formulaic kiddie fantasy-adventure papered-over with the basic aesthetics of the mega-popular building game that almost approaches something greater than the sum of its blocks when it morphs into an "Army of Darkness" for babies late in Act 3 ...but a little too late to make the difference. No classic, but I appreciate not overdosing on 'meta.' Not at all disagreeable and should entertain the youngest fans its clearly aimed at.
