What would happen in your life if you gave up the need to control every. little. thing?

Author Michael Singer once said, “The truth is that most of life will unfold in accordance with forces far outside of your control regardless of what your mind says about it.”

Let that sink in for a moment…

How often do you try to control the people, circumstances, and most everything around you?

I know I’ve tried to do this in the past, and to be honest, it hasn’t worked out so well because here’s the deal:

The ONLY thing, or person, or anything you can control is yourself. Only YOU.
No matter what you want to have happen, or how much you want to control everything and everyone around you, it just doesn’t work. And you end up being and feeling more miserable than ever.

So, from one control freak to another, here’s my question for you, and it’s a powerful one:

What would happen in your life if you gave up the need to control every. little. thing?

Does even thinking about that question make you feel totally frustrated? Maybe even out of control? Because you might feel like in order to be happy, controlling all the things is the answer. The only answer.

I totally get it. I’ve been there. I’m still a recovering control freak.

But here’s the deal: The more you try to control, the more it will fight you back, and you’ll be more and more frustrated and unhappy and lacking the peace we all crave in our lives.
