HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal vs Everton (4-0) | Nobbs, Foord, Beattie, Mead

We returned to winning ways in the Women’s Super League on Sunday as we secured a comfortable 4-0 victory over Everton.

There was big news when our starting XI was announced with Vivianne Miedema on the bench, but that didn’t stop us from delivering a complete performance with goals from all over the pitch.

Caitlin Foord was trusted to lead the line, while Jordan Nobbs returned on the left wing - and it was the latter who opened the scoring inside four minutes.

Beth Mead picked up the ball on the right wing and fizzed the ball across the face of goal, leaving Nobbs the simple task of firing into an open goal.

It was just the start we needed following defeat at Manchester City last week, and five minutes later we found ourselves two goals to the good.

With a searching pass from Leah Williamson over Everton’s defence, Jill Roord broke free down the right and squared the ball to Foord at the back post, who made no mistake.

The Australia international has now scored eight goals across all competitions this season.

We weren’t done there, though, and following the restart, Jen Beattie made it three with a routine header at the back post, latching on to Katie McCabe’s inviting corner.

But our fourth and final goal of the afternoon was undoubtedly the pick of the bunch. Racing on to Nobbs’ long ball in behind, Mead cut back inside on to her weaker foot, losing her marker before curling the ball into the top corner.

It was a stunning effort to round off our final appearance of 2020.
