NASA, SpaceX launch: NASA representatives, Elon Musk host post-launch press conference

SpaceX founder Elon Musk, NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine, NASA Commercial Crew Program manager Kathy Lueders, a SpaceX representative, International Space Station (ISS) Program manager Kirk Shireman and NASA chief astronaut Pat Forrester held a news conference after the SpaceX Demo-2 mission launch to the ISS, which took place earlier in the day.

NASA and SpaceX sent the first crewed space mission from U.S. soil into outer space since 2001 on Saturday, after inclement weather resulted in the launch being scrubbed about 17 minutes before ignition on Wednesday.

Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken lifted off in SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule on May 30 from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 3:22 p.m. ET en route to the International Space Station (ISS). The mission marks SpaceX's historic first with carrying humans and it serves as the company's climactic test before NASA can certify its Crew Dragon capsule for regular operational flights.
