Gaza documentary nominated for BAFTA honour

"Gaza: Fight For Survival", a Sky News documentary exposing the reality of Israel’s genocide in Gaza and the dangers faced by Palestinian journalists, was nominated for a BAFTA at British television’s biggest awards night in London.

The programme highlighted the work of local reporters and camera crews who continued documenting the destruction inside Gaza while foreign media organisations remained blocked from entering the territory since October 2023.

Speaking during the ceremony coverage, members of the team, including presenter Yalda Hakim and correspondent Alex Crawford, said Palestinian camera operators and journalists inside Gaza had "risked their lives" to give people in the territory a voice, and that the recognition belonged to the journalists on the ground.

Producer Ameera Harouda said crews in Gaza are still continuing their work despite bombardment, displacement and constant danger, adding: "We should never stop telling the truth of the situation on the ground in Gaza."

The documentary focused on the human toll of the war, while also highlighting Israel's targeting and killing of journalists reporting from Gaza.
