GEORGIAN MOUNTAIN DOGS, WHO ARE THEY?

Georgian mountain dog is an ancient aboriginal dog breed that was bred by shepherds of Georgia. Physically, these dogs are strongly – boned, muscular and athletic, with a large head and powerful legs. These dogs have been bred to guard sheep flocks and shepherd’s shelters.
In 1999 Kynological Federation of Georgia decided to take this breed under control by starting the controlled breeding. By this time the population of breed was on the edge of extinction. The standard “Georgian Mountain Dog” has been agreed and signed up the same year.
In order to save this unique aboriginal breed Kynological Federation of Georgia decided to undertake the expedition to Kazbegi region in 2002. Same year the line of Red Hoda, Aptar, Tugo, Boko and Dzhgrino were brought to capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. Shortly after the breeding of dogs by different lines began.
Our Kennel “Pride of Georgia” is the first Kennel of Georgian mountain dogs in Ukraine. Our Georgian mountain dogs BUGA and BIRMA are the members of our family. BUGA is TUGA’s son. BUGA is the Best male of Georgian Mountain Dog in Ukraine. Also BUGA is Vice - champion of the Ukrainian wolfhound's test fights'2012. His father TUGA was very famous dog in Georgia. He is Triple Champion of Georgia in 2007/2008/2009 and The best producer of breed 2010. Grand Champion of Georgia.
BIRMA is Makho’s daughter. She is the Best representative of this breed in Ukraine. Her father, Makho, is the Champion of Georgia 2010. 1st place Champion class. Also Makho was one of the best fighters in Georgia.
BUGA and BIRMA are fearless and brave dogs with stable psychic.
Georgian mountain dogs tend to be confident and courageous aboriginal dogs, accustomed to make decisions independently. They have fighting and guard qualities. Georgian mountain dogs bravely fight with Caucasian bear and wolves.
These graceful giants are very attached to their owners: they will do everything to win your love, respect and tenderness.
We are happy to announce that this year BUGA and BIRMA became proud parents of amazing puppies and each of them is very special and dear to me.
I have no doubt that you will fall in love with Georgian mountain dogs from the first sight, as I did in 2008, when I saw TUGA. Until today I am amazed by their proud aboriginal beauty, strength, courage and devotion.
