Santa Barbara California Container Residence Built with 5 Shipping Containers | AB Design Studio. Every week we feature an existing shipping container house from around the world, welcome to today’s featured house of the week. In this video we feature a luxury single-family Container Residence Build Using 5 Shipping Containers nestled into The Foothills of Santa Barbara County, California. The upper story is linked with a single flight staircase with timber framed glass balustrading rising above the 20 footer net to the kitchen. The upper story consists of four 40-foot shipping containers that form the master suite and 2 additional bedrooms fitted with barn doors recycled from the original container cargo doors. On ground floor level, the architects combined living spaces and kitchen to create a center of activity and area for entertaining. The space’s main focal point is an exposed 20-foot shipping container in the living space that was transformed into a pantry and scullery.
