#44 Governance - Performance Management [2023]

GoodData is a modern cloud platform built on kubernetes which features auto-scaling to ensure high performance for our customers. Anyone using our cloud product has a support team proactively monitoring the environment and working with them to address any performance issues. For customers who self host, we rely on Kubernetes and use their Kubernetes infrastructure to monitor performance.

In your example of a slow or resource intensive data job, the cluster can auto-scale to maintain performance for an individual customer or for customers running on a shared cluster. We are monitoring these jobs and work proactively with customers to address them when they come up - for exampe we had a customer who was accidentally refreshing their metrics model via API once per second. We were able to identify and rectify this while educating the customer on how to best use the metadata API.

Finally, FlexQuery, our new in-memory analytics lake technology, provides both automatic caching and data materialization to help manage and balance performance vs compute cost. It's less expensive to store data in flexquery for reuse than it is to send a large volume of substantially similar queries to a database like Snowflake. We work with customers proactively to tune FlexQuery in their environment.
