Fender '59 Bassman and '65 Super Reverb Comparison (reissues)
Hey guys!
We decided to go with something different this time. The Fender Bassman and Super Reverb on paper are almost the same amplifiers, but if you put them against each other head to head, they sound quite different, especially when you get them up to higher volumes. I wanted to share this with you guys, because there aren't really that many videos of these two amps on YouTube. We tried to cover some different styles, so the amps could show their full potential. We tried to keep the settings the same on all the songs of course.
Guitars used:
-Fender Road Worn 60's Stratocaster
-Fender White Partsocaster with John Mayer signature "big dippers" pickups
-Fender 50's Esquire with Seymour Duncan Antiquity 1955 Telecaster Bridge
-Fender American Vintage '65 Jazzmaster
-Les Paul Standard 2012
When we are using the Les Paul, we are using a Carl Martin DC drive overdrive pedal, instead of cranking the amps, so you could hear how well they work with pedals as well.
While using the Bassman and Les Paul, we engaged a Boss RV-5 Reverb pedal on a spring reverb setting. When using the Super Reverb and Les Paul, we used the spring reverb inside built in the amp, so you can hear the difference in the two.
Sorry about the guitar being slightly out of tune on some of the samples, there are some minor intonation problems on a few of the guitars.
PS.
For all of you Perkins fans, there will be more Perkins style videos in the near future, but also more blues/rockabilly stuff as well. Stay tuned!
