This Jonathan Kent production first premiered at the Royal Opera House in 2006 and was specially created for Angela Gheorghiu, joined in the first run of the performances by Marcelo Álvarez and Bryn Terfel.
It was the first new production of Tosca at the Royal Opera House since more than 40 years, since the version by Franco Zeffirelli that started life in 1964.
