There are lots of consultants who specialise in getting foreign children into British public schools but Dina Karpova is unique. “Our clients do want to go to the top schools, they do want their kids to be with the best British families and to be friends with them. There is not one company in Russia who works with the top schools or prepares the kids for top schools. The only choice is me.” Dina Karpova Dina, a beautiful and glamorous Russian international property broker is working with educational consultant Charles Bonas to prepare the children of the Russian super rich for the elite British public schools. “Traditionally, the great schools have educated a lot of the ruling families, so that culture is there. The Russians are doing everything to replicate the Tsarist lifestyle and part of that is being educated in the West” Charles Bonas. The film follows the journey of 11 year old step brothers, Natan & Vasilli, whose businessman father, Boris, wants them to get into a top school. The boys are sent on a bespoke English Mentors course in Dorset and stay at the family seat of the 12th Lord Digby, Minterne House, where they are introduced to polo and shooting. The course is run by ex army officer Nigel Haddon-Paton. “Our clients are from all over the world, a very big cross section. Some of these kids have been given too much too young. And that can start them off on quite the wrong foot because they believe they can flick their fingers and things happen. One of the things we point out to them is that one day, you may not have this wealth, for a lot of reasons, the oil may run out, the gas may run out and it’s a fact of life.” Nigel Haddon-Paton Dina epitomises the aspirational and determined Russians that are embracing the capitalist ethos of the West. Having come from the elite intelligencia of the former communist regime she led a privileged life in a closed city, the daughter of nuclear physicists developing top secret weapons. But the fall of the communist regime brought a dramatic end to Dina’s comfortable childhood. As a single mother running out of options, she fought her way back to prosperity and is now helping rich Russians become part of England’s High Society. When it’s time for Natan & Vasilli to visit some schools, will they make a good impression and get offered a place? The boys and their father tour the grounds and facilities of one of Britains’ grandest public schools, Stowe in Buckinghamshire. With thousands of acres of Capability Brown landscapes Stowe is an impressive example of what the British public school system has to offer. Will Dina succeed in educating the boys in the ways of the English elite and give them the social and academic skills they need to get into a top British public school?
