Passing the UK Border Control booth at Eurotunnel Calais France

This was my first trip on the Eurotunnel.

Here we're using the service from Calais to return to the UK. The process works as follows, first we drive up to a check-in machine that then leads on to the French/EU immigration booth. There are lanes with the immigration booths on the left and right sides of them, as the vehicles here are either left or right hand drive. Following this, there is a queue for the UK Border Control booths; once again with options for both left and right hand drive vehicles. During this queue, security officials perform random inspection on vehicles that includes taking swabs of the vehicle to check for traces of drugs or explosives.

By the way, EU passport holders only need to show the French/EU immigration officer the cover of the passport from inside the vehicle.

Our journey back from France had been delayed by 5 hours due to illegal immigrants trespassing the Channel Tunnel.
