Soft99 Fusso Coat New Formula vs Old Formula

Soft99 Fusso Coat has a new formula. I was blown away by the original formula of Fusso Coat and the legendary durability. Both are PTFE based sealants and the original rivaled coatings in durability. I was able to wash my test panel 70 times before the original formula wore off. Will the new formula deliver the same performance?

I started out with our usual prepped test hood. It was given a quick machine polish to ensure it was ready for a fresh coat of wax and totally contaminant free. The application was easy overall, but I felt that it was a little harder than the old formula. This new formula had a tendency to high spot and leave little holograms if I wasn't extra careful.

In our testing we found that the new formula was a little more shiny and hit a higher gloss unit score than the old formula. It averaged at 85.2 GU an increase of 1.1GU! It still looked great when examined after application and it was very very slick to the touch. Unfortunately our durability testing came up short. It scored just 22 washes from the 70 that the old formula scored. However, the 22 washes are still a huge number, only the old formula and Factor 4 scores higher than that!

Overall I think the old formula was better. I wouldn't say they ruined the new formula, but they definitely raised the price and lowered the durability. Perhaps they wanted to make it more in-line with other products of the same caliber and price point. Overall I wish they improved the new formula over the old rather than step it down, but it is still a fantastic product.
