DIY Pellet Mill part1 machine for small pellet production

Pellets are a great way to process and store materials like wood, corn or other grains. It is used to make animal feed or wood pellets for burning, but the proper equipment can be expensive. There are cheap alternatives from china, but that are very bulky (too big for my small lab) and of poor quality only suitable for low density materials.

At the moment I am working on developing a new consumer product and was in need of a small mill for test purposes, and as an inventor and maker I opted for the obvious route - build one!

The pellets I produce are only 3mm in diameter, but a bigger hole plate ("die") should work fine. The material used is fine saw dust mixed with a small percentage of modified starch as an additive.

The motor power is only 300w 230v, with a worm gear transmission giving the pellet mill approx 260 RPM. For permanent use a 3-phase frequency converter is recommended, to make it possible to fine tune the speed and add extra protection to the motor.
