5 Things That Still CONFUSE ME About Sweden - Just a Brit Abroad

What are some of the things that confuse me about Sweden? After living in Sweden for 2.5 years, what are the things that I just still don't understand? What are some of the customs and traditions which I just can't make sense of? What is it that makes Sweden so different? In today's video, we're digging into some of these questions, to find out what it is that I still haven't quite managed to wrap my head around about living in Sweden.

You guys know by now, that I've lived in Sweden for a while and I really enjoy being here, but that doesn't mean there aren't a fair few things that I still don't really understand or continue to confuse me. So today, I thought I'd share some of them with you, basically to find out whether I'm the only one thinking these things or whether you guys are also confused😆 and I'm really hoping some of my Swedish viewers can comment below and explain some of these confusions for us👇🏻 thank you in advance!

The 5 Things That STILL Confuse Me About Sweden:
1. Red Days - specifically the difference between afton and dagen, and why some aftons are free days but they aren't classified as röd dagar? Instead, they're called helgdagar, even though they don't take place on the weekend? Why aren't julafton, påskafton and midsommarafton just red days? Wouldn't this be so much simpler?! Or is that just me?
2. Putting a picture of Kungen in your BATHROOM - its supposed to be respectful to have a picture of the king in your home, but why is the tradition that you put his picture in the bathroom, so people see him when they are using the toilet? Surely it would be more respectful to have his picture on display in the hallway?
3. Talking about how old you are based on the year that you were born - where I'm from, we say I'm 25 years old, not that I'm born in '95. Why do we talk in years here?
4. Talking about the area you live on - why don't we talk about the number of rooms we have in our homes instead of the amount of square metres we live on? I understand houses in Sweden tend to be a lot bigger, but I still can't pretend to understand what 50 square metres looks like. Just tell me how many rooms you have and what you use them for instead!
5. Watching Kalle Anka (Donald Duck) on Julafton at 3pm - no, seriously. The Swedes all sit down to watch an episode of Donald Duck at Christmas! And they've done it every year since the 1950s!! How did this happen?!😅
