Between Tentative and Formal Job Offer

When you get hired by the US federal government there are two job offers; the tentative and the formal. There is a process of paperwork, background checks, and processing which happens in this period before the hiring agency is allowed to offer the selectee a formal, firm job offer. This is true for any GS position. This particular story is mine as I not only try to get hired by the government but to also move across the globe for the job and the extras that need to happen.

These videos in the Moving to Japan series are about my experience becoming a federal, civilian employee working for a US military base in Japan. It is a long process which can be hard to navigate, and I have not seen a lot of vlogs about this subject. So hopefully this series will be helpful to anyone who is in the same situation or thinking about applying for an overseas job.

Disclaimer - these are my points of view based upon my own experiences.
