The Drowned Continent Asia Forgot. A Forensic Analysis.

A dredging crew off Java was sucking sand off the seabed to build an artificial island. In the spoil it spat out, there were two pieces of a human skull, each smaller than a credit card, each one hundred and forty thousand years old. Nobody had ever found a human bone on the floor of those seas, because nobody was supposed to be down there. So what happens when a continent drowns with people still standing on it?

In this video we walk on Sundaland, a landmass roughly one point eight million square kilometers, nine to eighteen times the size of Doggerland, that drowned between about eighteen thousand years ago and five thousand BC. We cover the 2025 Madura Strait fossils reported by Harold Berghuis and his Leiden University team (more than six thousand fossils from at least thirty six species, Stegodon, Komodo dragons, hippos, with cut-marks on turtle bone and bovid bones cracked open for marrow), the 2024 Leang Karampuang cave painting on Sulawesi dated to at least fifty one thousand two hundred years, the oldest narrative art on Earth, and the 2023 study of seven hundred and sixty three genomes that tracked the forced migration of the Negrito peoples out of the drowning shelf. We give the honest caveat too: Sulawesi sits east of the Wallace Line, the skulls are archaic Homo erectus and not a lost civilization, and this is not Plato's Atlantis. We hold it against the retracted Gunung Padang pyramid claim to show the difference between a claim and a record.
