Croydon: 'Reeling and devastated', Residents react to spate of stabbings

A man has been knifed just yards from the spot where Croydon schoolgirl Elianne Andam was stabbed to death.

The man, in his 30s, was left with "potentially life changing" injuries after being attacked in College Road, close to the area's main train station of East Croydon at around 3am on Friday..

Three police cordons remained in place in the south London borough, in between the lavish blocks of flats that have been built to gentrify the area.

The stabbing took place on the road adjacent to Wellesley Road, where 15-year-old Elianne died on Wednesday after being stabbed to death at a bus stop on the way to Old Palace of John Whitgift private school. A 17-year-old was charged with murder.

In the latest incident, the man, who has not been named, was taken to hospital after police and paramedics attended to his stab injuries.

Scotland Yard said "his injuries have been described as not life threatening but potentially life changing", adding that no one has been arrested as an investigation continues. Anyone with information has been asked to call 101 or contact the Met quoting CAD822/29Sep.
