Personal Prayer: A Guide for Receiving the Father’s Love by Fr. Thomas Acklin and Fr. Boniface Hicks - https://amzn.to/2YEkKmv
God always has more for us.
Christian prayer is human and contemplative. We have a yearning and aspiration for God, which leads us to ask Him for the gift of prayer, a continuous interior prayer without ceasing.
God wants us to pray where and as we are, not how we want to be, and not like angels. We are human, and so our prayer that is imperfect, distracted, etc. is still prayer.
Contemplative prayer is not just a rare form for the advanced. It is part of our relationship with God and thus a fundamental aspect of all prayer, which flows from our baptismal relationship with Him. It's not a mental exercise by an encounter of the heart. It is a simple attentive love toward the Holy.
Pray with John 15:1-10, The Vine and Branches
