In “Sully,” the gripping new film by Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, Hanks plays Captain Sullenberger, who safely landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River off the shores of New York City, saving the lives of all 155 passengers on board. The movie revisits that day, January 15, 2009, as the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson.” However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.
