New VW ID. POLO GTI 2026 - FIRST LOOK Electric Hot Hatch (223 HP)

The 2026 Volkswagen ID. Polo GTI is the first fully electric car to carry the legendary GTI badge, debuting 50 years after the original Golf GTI changed the hot hatch segment forever.

In this video, we take a closer look at the 2026 VW ID. Polo GTI, including its 223 HP electric powertrain, electronically controlled front differential lock, and GTI-specific adaptive sports suspension.

The ID. Polo GTI delivers 214 lb-ft of torque through the front wheels, sprints from 0-62 mph in 6.8 seconds, and rides on standard 19-inch alloy wheels. A 52 kWh NMC battery provides up to 263 miles of WLTP range, with 105 kW DC fast charging reaching 10-80% in approximately 24 minutes. Inside, the tartan check seats, red 12 o'clock steering wheel marker, and retro Golf Mk1-style digital instruments carry the GTI DNA into the electric era. The boot offers 15.6 cubic feet, expanding to 43.8 with the rear seats folded. Pricing starts just under €39,000 ($45,630) in Germany, with first deliveries expected early 2027.
