Homeless people in Johor Bahru struggling to survive amid COVID-19

Many Malaysians who lost their jobs in Singapore due to the COVID-19 pandemic are struggling to survive in neighbouring Johor Bahru. Some have been left homeless and are living hand to mouth. The authorities are housing them in temporary shelters, but safety and health is still a major concern. NGOs said they have seen more people forced to live out on the streets since the pandemic started. It’s estimated that there are more than 500 people now homeless in Johor Bahru.
