Gundam Unicorn - What is Laplace's Box?

In this video I will discuss what the elusive object of all ideological desire, Laplace's Box, is, how it functions and what it reveals to us about the status quo and the hope for change.
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn is likely my favorite incarnation of the Gundam Franchise as of yet. It ties together all of the threads that started with the original Tomino Gundams way back in the 70s and 80s. It reveals in open terms the realities of modern colonialism and with its investigation of the ideologies that lead to these conflicts also can allow us to rethink the failures of the 20th century.
The question remains: Can we hope for change when this precarious status quo is already on the verge of collapsing? If I may, dear reader of this description, this feels very applicable to todays political predicament. Can one hope for a future without falling into ideological catastrophe? Is the status quo which already is a catastrophe more desirable than taking that risk?
