LA Zoo Travel Guide | Los Angeles Zoo | California Travel Tips

California travel journalist Veronica Hill shares her LA Zoo travel guide in this episode of "California Travel Tips."

Built in 1968, the Los Angeles Zoo is one of the city's best family daytrips. Approximately 1,100 animals are on display, from charming koalas to fearsome komodo dragons. New to the zoo is a $42 million Asian elephant habitat, which is set on more than 6 acres. Other highlights include the Great Ape Forest and Campo Gorilla Reserve. Primatologist Jane Goodall called its 1-acre chimpanzee enclosure one of the finest zoo habitats in the world.

LA Zoo coupons are available in combination with the Aquarium of the Pacific, offering deep discounts on both attractions. Normally, LA Zoo tickets run $14 adults and $9 for kids.

If you live nearby, consider LA Zoo membership. Your $49 donation helps support the animals while enjoying free admission and discounts for the entire year.
