Hindus are alive in the Caribbean because of the Ramayana #ayodhyarammandir

My ancestors that toiled in the sugar cane fields singing the dohas and chaupais from the Ramayana, this is a moment for me in 2024 to reflect on how they held on to Sri Rama to guide them and give them strength through all the adversities that they felt — because quite literally that is all they had.

This is also a moment for the global Hindu community to come together and look at how Sri Rama has been an integral part of Hindu society around the world. To the lives that were lost in this battle, it is our moment to remember everyone who made this victory possible.

So while I may not hold Indian citizenship and while I haven’t been to India yet — India for me is a sacred geography. It is a physical, sacred space that gave birth to our Hindu civilization and Ayodhya to me is the only home for Sri Rama. On January 22nd - I will be joining in celebrations commemorating this historic occasion.
