Tom Jones sold LA house as wife dying wish was to move home

TOM Jones has revealed he sold his £6.5million Los Angeles mansion and quit the US because it was his late wife's dying wish to move home.The heartbroken singer just didn't feel comfortable living in the luxury house he shared with his wife of 59 years after her death in April 2016.Sir Tom, 77, put the property on the market last year so he could move back to Britain almost two decades after buying the property back in 1998.He has now told the Sunday Mirror that it was Linda's dying wish to move back home, but she wasn't able to fulfil the dream due to her battle with lung cancer.She took care of all the decorating in the house and the grieving singer admits he just couldn't stay there after her death.Tom said: "That was our house in LA.I didn't feel comfortable there any more."[Linda] wanted to come back to Britain, she was always homesick."Then she got sick and we couldn't do it.She told me to go back the last week she was alive."She told me to get a flat in London."She would have loved to have come back but we left it too late." Tom and Linda, whose full name was Melinda, were childhood sweethearts after meeting aged 12 in their hometown of Pontypridd in Wales.They married when they were both 16 and had a son, Mark, now 59, who works as Tom's manager.The singer announced Linda's passing in April 2016, revealing she passed away after short battle with lung cancer.In a statement announcing her death, the star's agent explained: "Sir Tom Jones’ wife of 59 years, Lady Melinda Rose Woodward, passed away Sunday morning, April 10, after a short but fierce battle with cancer."Surrounded by her husband and loved ones, she passed away peacefully at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles."
