NEED: Extra Stomach and Friend for this GIANT V.I.P Platter (Duck + Grilled Fish + Herbs + Curry)

Our order of ONE main dish and THREE sides covered an entire full-size table... and it required Peam and I to do a 4-hour bike ride to prepare ourselves for the caloric needs required to finish it all :) :) Li helped too of course, nearly finishing the tower of rice noodles, curry, and fresh veg, all on her own.

The list of "JOEL, you just have to visit ____ in Khon Kaen" is reaching the final few items, and we did not want to let one more day go by without a visit to VIP SomTam CLUB, home of the largest plates (plates? how about serving trays?!) of Esaan food that I've ever seen.

This is a great restaurant for families, for parties, or you can simply test yourself with an Esaan-Food-Challenge type meal, and try to take the whole thing down yourself!!

Please leave me a comment below if you have ever seen a serving of Thai food larger than this, maybe I am still surprised we managed to finish it all :).

PRICES and OUR ORDER:
Due to the volume of ingredients used/the size of all the serving plates, I would say this is on average about 20-30 Baht more per plate than any traditional Esaan restaurant around town.
Our order today was - Entire grilled Tilapia with Herbs (Taat Baan Na Pla Pao), 2 orders of Som Tam (Tam Laos, Tam Thai), 2 Mackarel with a different set of herbs ('Miang Pla Too'), the tower of noodles and curry (Sen Sod Nam Ya Paa), the duck Laap ('Laap Bet'), and of course how can I forget the special sweet vegetable dark soup with ant eggs ("Kaeng Pak Waan Sai Kai Mot Daeng"), 3 containers of sticky rice ('KhaaoNiao'), 1 large water, and 1 bucket of ice.
TOTAL Bill - 860 Baht.
