newfoundland dog | season end grooming | rest easy to my baby louie

after I made this video in may 2021. I finished brushing him which took about 3 days. I clipped his nails and Gave him his bath which would be his last one.
then in June his medication had to be increased due to his pain and July he slept a lot to eventually passing away. grooming my newf would stress him out so I tried to take it easy.
this video was filmed beginning of May which was season end. which means I was taking off a lot of his winter coat and because of louies medical issues, i didnt groom him as much in his last year because again, it was pretty hard for him to endure. he had to have wheelchair ramps and harness to help him stand when he was getting groomed but again it was so uncomfortable for him you would think i was torturing him. his coat always looked like it was needing some grooming because Louie had the freedom to roam, he was NOT a chained dog. he played in water, mud and saw dust almost daily during spring, evenings in summer and fall. he always managed to get burs on his fur that took forever to get out, he loved the pool and the sprinkler. he wasn't a small dog, he was 5'8 in standing position and he weight 200 lbs.
Louie was a spoiled dog who has custom everything due to his size and he knew he was spoiled. during the summer Louie spent the days indoors and the cool evening outside. in winter he refused to come into the house and when he would he would over heat very quickly. Louie had a house outside and a large yard to roam around with a small creek in the back.
I always allowed Louie to be himself and do what he wanted.
the last year of my newfs life. I didn't do anything that would stress him out so hope his last few months of his life were good.

first things first.
we gotta brush out Louies coat.
we do blow drying to loosen up his fur.
brushing out louies coat out can take approximately 3 days just because he needs breaks quiet often.
(Louie has arthritis in both is back knees and hip dysplasia)
we use large and medium grooming rakes and sheep brushes.

we do not shave our newfie because their double coat protects them from frost bite and sunburn.

my newf likes to sit under the sprinkler in the summer time and or find water puddles somewhere, anywhere! so he can lay in the water.
although Louie loves water, he does not like baths.

Louie passed on July 2021. he was 7 years.
