Boogie Woogie Piano Bass Line Pattern
Boogie Woogie Piano Bass Line Pattern
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqSwTmQ9bBw
In this video, Scott The Piano Guy Houston shows you how to:
- play a great LH Boogie Woogie pattern
- play the pattern over the 3 blues chords in G
- play the chords to follow the blues changes
- focus on swinging and sounding authentic vs. playing robotically
This left hand (LH) Boogie Woogie pattern is taught in the key of G, so you’ll start on the roots of the the three blues chords: G, C, and D.
Scott stresses the importance of relaxing and taking your time playing as slowly as you need to. For many of you who have only played chords with your LH up to this point, trying to play all these individual notes will be a challenge, but that’s what makes it so good for you!
Take advantage of the format and replay the video as often as you need to. Focus on each note when playing slowly–so that your brain is really “cementing” what your fingers are doing. Soon you’ll be able to pick up the tempo if you want to ...
More than anything, really try to internalize the feel of how Boogie Woogie swings. Playing it “swinging hard” more slowly is (I think …) much more important than trying to frantically, robotically play it faster than you are comfortable with.
Once you learn the patterns, you can start playing them in the right order following the blues progression and sound like a pro!
Scott’s life goal is to help you learn to play piano through piano lessons that you can take anywhere and at any time to get you started having some fun at a piano or keyboard as quickly as possible.
Scott Houston is the host of The Piano Guy television series on Public Television and has taught hundreds of thousands of folks like yourself, how to have some fun on their piano or keyboard. He wants to help you get there too—as quickly as possible.
