I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.

This was a suggestion I saw on Instagram from one of my subscribers and i want to thank them for giving me this idea.. Today I want to talk about the feud between metal act Disturbed and punk group Finch that escalated to the point that there was an on-stage brawl between members of both bands during a festival both acts were on the bill for.

The feud between the bands stemmed from a 2002 interview that Finch guitarist Randy Strohmeyer made to MeanStreet Magazine where he made threatening remarks towards Distrubed frontman David Drehman while also slamming his ban saying

, "I'd rip his stupid little piercings out. They're just cheesy. It bums me out because their music is terrible, and what they're all about, it's just sh--. Hopefully, all that music will die out soon. Finch’s drummer Alex Pappa’s soon afterwards made some additional disparaging comments against distrubed in an interview saying to Rancid-news.co.uk "Disturbed suck! I hate that band so much; they're like the worst band I've ever heard

Both Disturbed and Finch were set to play the Rolling Rock Town Fair in Latrobe, Pennsylvania in 2004. A 2-year-old beef between Disturbed and Finch resulted in onstage fisticuffs between the bands.

As Finch was about to start their set, it was reported by MTV that, Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan approached his counterpart in Finch, guitarist Randy Strohmeyer and a physical fight erupted. Finch’s bandmates and crew jumped into help Strohmeyer and soon enough Disturbed frontman David Draiman and their manager, Jeff Battaglia, joined the scuffle and punches were thrown. MTV reported that one of the members of Finch swung his guitar narrowly missing Drainman’s head, but luckily, no injuries or arrests were made .

Track Entertainment which produces the festival released a statement following the scuffle that read "Rolling Rock has a flawless reputation; there's never been a problem," . "No ODs, drug busts or anything, and then there's a fight onstage. Part of me says, 'This is rock and roll,' but I've been doing this 20 years and have never seen bands fight onstage." Once the fight was broken up Finch was able to resume their set as planned.

After Finch’s performance, security had to walk the band back to their tour bus to avoid any further confrontations. It had turned out according to Track Entertainment that Disturbed and members of the band sevendust in addition to their roadies were waiting backstage to confront finch.
Donegan would tell MTV “We didn't want anything happening onstage, and so out of respect for security and the promoters, we got offstage,"We waited for them to come off, and if they wanted to explain themselves or finish it up, we were up for either one.".
Donegan would put out a statement as to why he approached Strohmeyer on stage revealing "I can take anybody saying they don't like the band, but the second that the guy makes a statement that he wants to put a bullet in someone's head, I take it seriously," "If they weren't serious, why haven't they made any attempts in the past year and a half to clear the air or say, 'Hey, guys, it was all in good fun,' or 'It was a joke done in bad taste'?"
Both bands pointed the finger at each other for escalating things with Donegan claiming his wife, in addition his 8-month-old daughter and Draiman were on the side of the stage watching Three Days Grace before the stage rotated to reveal Finch. According to Donegan, hen the Finch guys saw the members of Disturbed they started giggling, laughing and pointing so Donegan claimed he went and approached Stromeyer to ask the guitarist why he made threatening remarks against his vocalist.
Stromeyer in turn would claim he told Donegan his comments made in the interview were done as a joke and offered a handshake, but things quickly escalated.
Some message boards online at the time claimed a genre feud would be born, but Donegan dismissed this putting out a statement that read
"I've seen some posts trying to twist this whole story into a new East Coast vs. West Coast, emo vs. metal thing," he said. "Just to clarify, this has nothing to do with any of that. This is a simple lesson learned in life that there's consequences to your actions."
