KATICA ILLÉNYI - Spellbound / theremin

In honor of my Hungarian countryman, Miklós Rózsa, I am proud to offer you my musical interpretation of Spellbound played on my very own Theremin.
In 1945, with the release of the Alfred Hitchcock movie Spellbound, the world famous Hungarian/American composer Miklós Rózsa used the Theremin to create the movie’s Academy Award winning score. Although Mr. Rózsa wrote many Hollywood scores, Spellbound is my favorite because Dr. Samuel Hoffman, one of my heroes, played the very first notes of that score on the Theremin, setting the mood for the entire movie.
100 years ago. In 1920, a young Russian physicist named Leon Theremin invented the etherwave, later renamed the Theremin. Without touching it, a musician can create an amazing series of tones that will translate into beautiful music.
