February Invitation - Keep it SIMPLE!

The next page in my junk journal was a page I used for leftover paints. There was already a little Rouge (new DWM acrylic) though a stencil and some white paint on the page, so I really wanted to work around that. I started with some watered down Marine and Turquoise paints, and then added some coffee. After it dried, I loved it soooooo much! I didn't want to add anything to it, which I personally think is fine!

We as art journalers often feel like we need to keep adding layers and using all of our techniques. We get drilled with "don't be afraid to cover something up!" But, what if we just let something be? Not everything needs layer upon layer of this technique or that. Some things are best when they are simple.

I reached for a bit of plastered lace (a technique taught by Aimee Bishop in Fodder School) and the new DWM ledger papers to find a sentiment, and ended with some splatters of black paint.

I hope you enjoy the (short!) process of this page, and that it inspires you to keep it simple in your own journal!!
