Hundreds Gather in Manhattan for Ashura: Commemorating the Martyrs of Karbala

A profound display of devotion, unity, and timeless grief filled the busiest streets of New York City. The Jafria Association of North America (JANA), led by Syed Isteefa Naqvi and his dedicated team, successfully organized the 40th Annual Ashura Procession in Manhattan—recognized as the oldest and most historic Ashura march in the United States.

The traditional mourning procession commenced from 50th Street and Park Avenue following Zuhr prayers led by Sheikh Fadhil al-Sahlani (Head of Al-Khoei Foundation, New York). Thousands of mourners, dressed in black, marched through Manhattan's designated routes, culminating in a powerful finale outside the Pakistan Consulate on 65th Street and Madison Avenue.
