DEBT WRITTENING TO UKRAINE - a powerful signal to Kyiv and Zelensky

Recently, the U.S. said that American support is vital for Ukraine, so it will be in various ways. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said this during a briefing.

"We are very open to anything that will help Ukrainians rebuild their country and resist Russian invasion," Psaki said when asked by reporters about the possibility of forgiving Ukraine's foreign debt.

Ukraine's external debt, public and private, is about $130 billion, half of which is owned by the government and the other half by the private sector. The government also has a domestic debt of more than $40 billion.
