What It Was Like To Be a Marine at Iwo Jima during WW2

What life was like for marines at Iwo Jima? The Battle for Iwo Jima was one of the bloodiest battles in Marine Corps history. In the midst of WWII, the U.S. sent 70,000 marines to face off against 22,000 Japanese soldiers on the shores of Iwo Jima. What occurred is one of the most infamous showdowns in American history. More medals of honor were presented than any other battle in history.
