For the 'verse' part, the bass riff follows the guitar lick in homorhythm and unison on the front beat. Then the bass plays the root and dominant (C and G) with the dominant used as a transition note on the backbeat, especially on measures at the end of the phrase (the end of the hypermeter). For the chorus, the bass riff again follows the guitar in unison on the front beat, and then pedals the root note for the rest of the measure. For rhythmic variety, the bass substitutes a beat for triplets, on the backbeat, where syncopation typically occurs. In general, that is how the bass line works in this draft. Got all that?

Bass/Drum Tab sheet music available by request.
