A powerful win for Lofoten

The movement for an #OilFreeLofoten has achieved a powerful win.

Since 2001, the Lofoten region islands of Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja have been protected by a series of temporary bans on oil development - but on April 6, 2019, a solid majority of Norway’s Labour Party voted to protect the Lofoten region from oil development, marking an important turning point in this movement.

We would like to recognize the tremendous efforts of our partners, Folkeaksjonen, Friends of the Earth Norway, Young Friends of the Earth Norway, and AUF, as well as every single one of our #OilFreeLofoten champions, to protect this incredible part of the world.

We look forward to celebrating everything that an #OilFreeLofoten has to share with us - now for many years to come.
