DIY Home Standby Generator Maintenance: Annual Service
Service Kit:
https://amzn.to/3G2lu8V
Here's a look at what it takes to DIY the required annual service on your home standby generator. In this case I was working on a Generac 22KW generator, the process is the exact same for most Generac generators. This tutorial can also be used for other brand generators, as they all operate in a similar fashion. Honeywell and Generac are the same machines, they are just rebranded. You can purchase a Generac service kit for your Honeywell if need be. Conduct this work at your own risk, there's not much to screw up. The biggest concern is making sure you have the correct amount of oil in your machine. If your generator wont run after completing this service, double check that your auxiliary shut down switch is turned back on, and the sparkplug boots are connected. If it still wont run after that is confirmed, your valves are out of clearance, and need to be double checked. If you have any further questions, leave a comment below.
How to get into the Dealer Menu:
From the Main Menu on your Generator display, press the following buttons:
Escape, Up, Up, Escape, Down, Up, Escape, Up, Enter. This will allow you to enter the dealer menu, this will not automatically put you in the dealer menu, you then have to go back to the main menu and select dealer, it will allow you to open it after you enter that code.
Required Items:
Socket Wrench
10mm Socket
Spark Plug Wrench
Socket Wrench Extension
10mm Allen Wrench
