Un American Au Quebec

« l'histoire d'un Américain unilingue qui se rend dingue à devenir bilingue ».

In this 1 hour docu-comedy Matt Zimbel, a musician and producer who has worked with artists including Leonard Cohen, Miles Davis, Cirque du Soleil , Kanye West, Blondie, Ginette Reno and Bruce Hornsby recounts both his struggles and pleasures of learning how to speak French when he moved from New York to Montreal. After realizing that nothing excites him more than making his francophone friends laugh in his newly adopted language, he decides to try his hand at stand up comedy in French and secures a much sought after performance spot opening the Grand Rire Festival in Quebec City. In preparation for the performance he seeks sage counsel from comedians Sylvain Laroque, Mike Paterson, actor Manuel Tadros, film producer Kevin Thirney (Bon Cop Bad Cop) and an assortment of his bilingual friends including gold medal skier Jen Heil, 7 Doigts de la Main founder and artistic director Gypsy Snider and his medical doctor Zeubin Irani. Zimbel also presses his former French professors “Odette and Pierrette” into emergency service as the performance approaches.
