If your organisation intends to manage Kubernetes, go ahead. But if not, use managed Kubernetes services like EKS or GKE. There’s no point in paying a lot of money for a DevOps or SRE just to do what cloud providers already handle. Pay your SRE to keep things simple and utilise the best cloud options. If you need a custom solution, then your DevOps or SRE can handle that. But please don’t let them do what has already been done and is inexpensive.
