What Camerons Car Reviews has to say about the 2014 4Runner: For 2014 the Toyota 4Runner is refreshed, with this refresh comes host of new upgrades and features. Toyota has always stuck to the the true formula that the 4Runner has, a body on frame SUV that is capable of handling all sorts of terrains, while other SUV's that used to be the 4Runner's competitors back in the 1990's and 2000's went to a crossover style. With this being said, the 4Runner has that rugged look still and it even looks more rugged if not polarizing on the front fascia which is love it or hate it styling. Under the hood you will find a carryover engine from last year which is a 4.0 L V6 paired with a 5-Speed Automatic rated at 17 City and 21 HWY. Now the V6 is very powerful, however a V8 option would fit better in this SUV. On the interior it's very utilitarian, however some materials do feel divine and s luxurious. Everything is well labeled and very user friendly and the front seats are comfortable for long road trips. When talking about the second row and third row however many adults will find it to be somewhat cramped. Compared to its competitors (Jeep Grand Cherokee & Nissan XTerra) the 4Runner is one of the last true capable SUV's of handling offroading real well and the 4Runner combines a mix of some luxury and ruggedness. When coming down to it, the 4Runner is not a recommended SUV for large families, however it's great for being an all conquering all terrain SUV.
