Lorca’s poetic, tragic play explores the themes of fate, life & nature and focuses on how we are brought down when we are not true to ourselves. A Bride & Groom are to marry in rural Spain in the 1920’s. Both from well to do families. The Groom’s Mother is suspicious of the impending marriage, haunted by a blood feud between her family and the Felix's, agrees to support him. On the wedding day, after they are married, the Bride runs off with her former lover Leonardo Felix who she had been in love with (who is presently married to her cousin and has a child). Passions are ignored and feelings suppressed. Omens portend. Bloodshed and death ensues.
