The Truth About Empowerment | Nia Peeples | TEDxCitrusParkWomen
Empowerment. Everyone wants it but very few people actually know what it means to possess it let alone how to go about achieving it. The word "Empower" actually means "To give official authority to." To be truly empowered, one must first know their true nature then give "IT" full authority. This talk will point out that most people blindly accept what society, culture, educational institutions tell them about their nature and therefore what will bring them a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment as well as how to be empowered enough to achieve that. But through science and personal anecdotes of a recovering overachiever/ TV actress/ musical artist, Nia helps to identify their true nature and point them inward where their true empowerment resides. Nia Peeples is an actress, singer, dancer, host and author most known for the hit TV series Fame, Walker Texas Ranger, and Pretty Little Liars, as well as the movies The North Shore and Return to Lonesome Dove, and her #1 record, Trouble. She has hosted shows for MTV and E! as well as the Emmy award-winning, Teen Scene. Most recently, with her youngest child heading off to college and her fourth marriage ending, Nia sold everything she had and went on a 3 year walkabout to simply answer the question, “What do you want?” She knew that contained within that answer, the real answer, the answer that can not be separated from her purest essence, was the truth of who she had become and her greatest expression of that knowing. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
