Raw, unpolished shorts showing footage with KLANG experimenting with an inexpensive £115.00 #volcadrum + Klang, so it's Volca Drum - but treating it as a synth by using its sound engine and the continuous changing of CC that manipulates it. The sound is 100% only from the volca ( + erica synth reverb ) - no post-production in a DAW to clean up the sound .

Systems are experimental - as we run final checks on KLANG. And make experiments with it so we can check and discover workflows and improve them.

KLANG is a visual, component-based music software environment for building and performing custom, hybrid music systems across modular, retro MIDI and semi-modular systems.

IT IS FOR SOUND - PERFORMANCE, EXPLORATION and EXPERIMENTATION.

It integrates and coordinates Eurorack, MIDI, and digital processes into a single real-time system, creating controller-based hyper instruments or systems that can be let loose , steered and influenced.
ANALOGUE MODULAR AUGMENTATION
KLANG augments Eurorack modular systems through MIDI-to-CV integration, using its own open-ended system and process construction to generate evolving control structures, behaviours, and interactions beyond conventional patching.
RETRO SYNTH AUGMENTATION and EXTENDED MIDI TECHNIQUES
In the early 2000s, Robot Software was immersed in the glitch-era experimental MIDI and digital sound culture, error, the aesthetic of failure and unconventional MIDI use.

We researched and practised “extended MIDI techniques” - performing with our custom systems and software at festivals such as Sónar Barcelona. We are bringing this experience to Klang.

Techniques that enable the experimental reuse of OBSOLETE MIDI synthesisers, or modern synths, revealing sounds and behaviours never intended by the original machines..
