n8n Error Handling Tutorial for Beginners
👉 n8n free trial (+discount): https://businessolution.org/get/n8n
In this video, I’ll show you how to handle errors in n8n and set up a better system for managing workflow failures over time.
We’ll start by looking at what happens when a workflow runs into an error. You’ll see how n8n highlights the node that caused the issue, where to find the error message, and how to use the Executions panel to inspect the full error logs. This is where you can understand what went wrong, whether it happened during testing or during a real production execution.
I’ll also explain how to read basic error details, such as missing connections, broken credentials, or nodes that are not configured properly. And if the error message is not clear, you’ll see how you can use the error information or a screenshot to get help troubleshooting it.
Then we’ll move into ongoing error management using n8n’s Error Workflow feature. This lets you create a separate workflow that automatically runs whenever another workflow fails. Instead of checking every automation manually, you can send error alerts to your team through tools like Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, or any other connected app.
I’ll walk you through how to create an Error Trigger workflow, connect it to your main workflow, and test it by intentionally creating an error. Once it’s set up, your error workflow can capture failure details and notify the right person or channel automatically.
By the end of this video, you’ll understand how to troubleshoot errors manually, read execution logs, and set up automated error handling in n8n so your workflows are easier to monitor and maintain.
